We’ll guide you through your account, location, teaching details and credentials. Review everything before submitting.
Your contact information stays private. Your profile tells families what you teach and how you work.
Tell us about your qualifications. Document verification is handled separately with the TUTSA team.
Your profile starts as a draft for review. We’ll guide you through the next steps before it goes live.
Independent tutors who can accurately describe their subjects, experience and qualifications. Profiles are reviewed before being published.
No. Tutors set their own rates and keep their lesson earnings. The directory membership is a separate monthly fee.
No. Joining is free, and your first 2 months cost nothing. Once your profile is live you can save a card so your membership carries on when the trial ends. We confirm it with a R1.00 charge that is refunded straight away, and we never see or store your card number.
No. Your contact details are used for your account and enquiries. Your phone number is not displayed on your public profile.
Your experience deserves more than a name and a phone number. Use your profile to show the context you teach in and help families begin a more useful conversation.
Choose the subjects, grades and curricula you are comfortable supporting. Describe the topics you work with and the kinds of learning goals you can help a family discuss.
A focused profile can be more informative than selecting every option. Be accurate about your qualifications and experience, and explain how they relate to the work you offer.
Explain how you begin with a new learner, how you make space for questions and how you adapt when an explanation does not land. Use clear language a parent and learner can understand.
Avoid promises of guaranteed results. Give families a realistic picture of how you work and what you would want to learn about their situation before planning lessons.
Set out the areas you cover, whether you teach online or in person, your lesson rates and a useful summary of your availability. Families need those details alongside the introduction.
When someone enquires, confirm the current times, lesson length and any travel arrangements. Your published rate is a starting point for a clear agreement.
Use an email address you check regularly. Read the learner’s context before replying, ask for the information you need and be clear about whether you can offer the requested support.
You decide which enquiries to accept. If the fit is right, agree on the lesson plan, schedule, payment and cancellation arrangements directly with the family.
The registration guides you through five stages: account, location, teaching details, credentials and review. You can move back through the stages before submitting.
Have a current email address and phone number ready, together with your suburb, city and province. Choose the areas you cover for in-person lessons or select online teaching.
Prepare a short headline and a useful description of your experience and approach. Select the subjects, grades, curricula and languages that accurately represent your offering.
Decide on your starting hourly rate and, if relevant, a rate range. Add a practical availability note and indicate whether you offer a complimentary introductory call.
Provide the qualification, institution and completion year where available. The TUTSA team arranges identity and qualification document verification separately after registration.
You are an independent tutor, responsible for your own services and the agreements you make with families. TUTSA gives your profile a place in the directory and routes enquiries to you; it does not employ you or manage your lessons.
The flat membership fee is separate from your tutoring income. There is no commission deducted from lessons and no promise of a set number of enquiries. Your subjects, location, availability and how clearly you introduce yourself all form part of the information a family considers.
Your account is created and your tutor profile starts as a draft. The team reviews the information and guides you through the next steps, including document verification. Registration alone does not publish a profile.
No. TUTSA provides directory visibility and enquiry routing. Families choose who to contact, and a listing does not guarantee a particular number of enquiries, lessons or earnings.
No. You operate independently and arrange lessons directly with families. Your responsibilities and the platform relationship are set out in the Tutor Platform Agreement.
Document verification is arranged separately with the TUTSA team. The current registration captures your qualification information but does not ask you to upload identity documents. Do not put identity numbers or document images in your public biography.
The Subscription Terms set out the membership arrangements, billing and cancellation. No card details are requested and no payment is taken when you create your account.
Bring your subjects, experience and approach together in one thoughtful profile. We’ll guide you through the details.
Answers from this website only
Hello. I am the TUTSA website assistant, not a tutor.
I can help you find your way around the site: how to search for a tutor, how contact works, what verification means, and how tutors join. I only answer from what is published here, so if something is not on the site I will say so rather than guess.
