A few good questions

“How would you support a learner who understands the work but struggles in exams?”

“Have you taught this curriculum before?”

03
Make contact

Start with hello.

Send a free enquiry from the tutor’s profile. The tutor replies directly, and you agree on the schedule, lesson fees and next steps together.

Some tutors offer a complimentary introductory call. Look for the option on their profile.

No account. No booking fee.

Families use the directory for free. Lesson payments are arranged directly with the tutor.

Good to know

A few details,
made simple.

Does TUTSA book lessons for me?

No. You and your tutor agree on the schedule, lesson format and payment arrangements directly.

Can we learn online?

Yes. Choose online lessons in the directory to explore tutors beyond your immediate area.

What does verification cover?

The badge relates to identity and qualification documents. It is not an assessment of teaching ability or a criminal record check.

Is there a fee for parents?

No. Searching the directory and sending an enquiry are free for families.

A search that starts with your learner

Turn a long list
into a useful few.

You can use one filter to begin and add more as you explore. Each one helps answer a different part of the question: could this tutor work for us?

SUBJECT + GRADE

Get the learning context right.

Start with the subject and the learner’s current grade. Look at the levels a tutor lists, read their introduction and ask about experience with the particular topics you need.

For university support, include the module and institution in your enquiry. A broad subject label is only the beginning of confirming whether someone can help with the course.

CURRICULUM + LANGUAGE

Make sure you’re talking about the same work.

Select the curriculum your learner follows, then share any relevant course level or examination details with the tutor. Ask which materials they use and how they would work alongside the school’s programme.

Language matters too. Check the languages listed and discuss which one your learner prefers for explanations, questions and lesson materials.

AREA + LESSON FORMAT

Choose what fits your week.

For in-person sessions, search your area and ask the tutor where lessons take place and whether they travel. A listed suburb is an introduction to their coverage, rather than a confirmed travel arrangement.

For online lessons, discuss the platform, device and connection you will use. Online support can widen the search beyond your immediate neighbourhood.

RATE + AVAILABILITY

Settle the practical details.

Use the hourly rate filter to start within your budget. Confirm the session length and full cost with the tutor, including any travel arrangements, before you agree to lessons.

Availability can change. Share a few suitable times and the period you need support for, then agree on a schedule, payment timing and cancellation terms directly.

The moment after you press send

One enquiry.
A direct conversation.

The message you send from a profile is for that tutor. Include enough context to help them reply usefully, while keeping unnecessary personal details out of the introduction.

  1. Your message reaches the selected tutor

The enquiry includes the contact details and learning information you provide. TUTSA records the enquiry for the operation of the directory and support.

  2. The tutor replies to you

You can ask follow-up questions, clarify their experience and discuss availability. A reply or lesson place is not guaranteed, so keep your plans flexible until you have agreed the details.

  3. You decide on the next step together

That might be an introductory call, where offered, or a first lesson. Agree on the fee, schedule, format and what to prepare. Lesson bookings and payments are arranged directly.

Your choice, from the first click

You choose the person.
You shape the arrangement.

TUTSA does not allocate a tutor or place a coordinator between you. You browse the profiles, choose who to contact and agree the teaching relationship directly. If your needs change, you can return to the directory and explore other options.

There is no parent account to maintain or family subscription to manage. Searching and enquiring are free; the tutor’s lesson fees are a separate agreement between you.
