Make the first hello count.

A little context helps a tutor understand what your learner needs. You do not need to have all the answers before getting in touch.

1. Share the learner’s grade, curriculum and the topics they would like help with.
2. Explain your goal: understanding the basics, working more independently or preparing for an assessment.
3. Ask how the tutor plans a first lesson and how you will review progress together.
4. Agree on the schedule, lesson fees and cancellation arrangements before you begin.

For a younger learner, include their questions too. Choosing support works best when they feel part of the conversation.
